At Duckhorn Vineyards, we have been making our Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc since 1982. Harvested from our estates and select Napa Valley vineyards, this rich and elegant Sauvignon Blanc was blended with Sémillon to add depth and complexity. Fermented and aged using both stainless steel and French oak, it offers ripe citrus and tropical flavors, refreshing acidity and Sémillon-driven silkiness.

Wine Profile

Production Notes
Varietal Content: 85% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sémillon; Winemaking: 92% stainless steel, 8% new French oak
Winemaker Notes
This vibrant Sauvignon Blanc begins with enticing aromas of lemongrass, lychee, passionfruit, melon and pineapple, followed by hints of white nectarine and lime. On the juicy palate, a subtle viscosity is perfectly balanced by refreshing acidity that adds precision to the citrus and tropical fruit flavors, while driving the wine to a bright, zesty finish.
Production
For both red and white grapes, 2018 offered near picture-perfect growing conditions, with mild spring and summer weather, and no significant heat events. The conditions were ideal for both our Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, which show beautiful tropical notes and ripe flavors at low sugars. While our Chardonnay harvest began about three weeks later than normal, the fruit arrived at the winery in pristine condition, producing dynamic and complex wines. The excellent growing conditions naturally resulted in a slightly larger than average crop for our red Bordeaux varieties, with fully lignified seeds at low sugars levels. With temperate weather throughout fall, we were able to pick each block at optimal ripeness, yielding exceptionally juicy and polished red wines, with plush, well-rounded tannins, and lovely overall structure.

Duckhorn sent me this bottle to share my opinions and I'm honestly very impressed. We tried this with enchiladas and the spice and cheese from the Mexican food paired great with the wine. It has a near-perfect balance of acidity while not being too dry. I also tried some before hand and while it is delicious on its own, it deserves to be enjoyed with food to bring out the full potential of the wine. I really enjoyed the clean crisp taste of the wine and appreciated the fact that it complemented the food rather than competing with it. I don’t normally seek out Sauvignon Blancs, but when I do enjoy them I love ones that are oaky, citrusy and on the drier side. This Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc did not disappoint - it was crisp, medium-bodied and held notes of melon, grapefruit and pear. I opened this up to kick off girls night with a cheese and fruit board and it was such a hit! I highly recommend chilling it in the fridge beforehand and taking it out about 10-15 minutes before serving it. I loved tasting how the flavors slowly changed as it came to room temperature in my glass. I completed this review in exchange for compensation and free product, but all views are my own.

As a French man, I love a good wine. And I can share, the 2018 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc didn’t disappoint. Even my Friendsgiving dinner guests agreed! It was a perfect partner to our turkey and dressing feast. I completed this review in exchange for compensation and free product, but all views are my own.

I love a good Sauvignon Blanc and Duckhorn Vineyards has a great one! Bright and crisp with a fruity aroma, this wine is smooth, balanced, and perfect for sipping. It’s very refreshing, not overly acidic, and not too dry. I served this Sauv Blanc with a huge cheeseboard, and fresh pear and gruyere cheese went exceptionally well with it. If you’re looking for an elegant wine to serve guests, or for sipping to unwind and relax in the evening, this is it!
