2019 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot Stout Vineyard
In Stock
Stout Vineyard is located at approximately 1,700 feet in the Howell Mountain appellation–one of the Napa Valley’s most sought-after, ultra-premium winegrowing regions. As a result of its elevation, topography, soils and climate, Howell Mountain consistently produces a dark, dense and structured Merlot displaying rich wild berry and herb characteristics. In keeping with its mountain origins, this wine is supported by ample tannins, yielding a complex, age-worthy expression of Merlot.

Winemaker Notes
Deep, dark and juicy, this luxurious Merlot displays aromas of black cherry, boysenberry and raspberry, as well as evocative hints of cranberry, coffee, bay leaf, thyme and mint. On the palate, the tannins are firm and gracefully focused, with lovely underlying acidity adding purity and precision to the lush fruit flavors, while carrying the wine to a long, complex finish.
Production
2019 brought another exceptional vintage to Napa Valley, resulting in wines with alluring polish and poise! The season began with a wet winter followed by a mild spring. While this led to a slightly later-than-normal start to the season, ideal summer weather with no significant heat spikes ensured ideal flavor development, yielding complex and vibrant whites, and refined reds with elegant tannins, enticing aromatics and beautiful fruit flavors.
